Junior Bronze & Silver Pins Awarded to Bailey Harsh

According to James Fisher, director of junior activities for the American Angus Association® in Saint Joseph, Mo., Bailey Harsh, Radnor, Ohio, has earned the National Junior Angus Association’s (NJAA) Bronze and Silver Awards.

Bailey is the 17-year-old daughter of Tim and Elizabeth Harsh and attends Buckeye Valley High School.  She is an active member of the NJAA, Ohio and Eastern Ohio Junior Angus Associations.  Currently, Bailey serves as the secretary for the Ohio Junior Angus Association.  She has shown her Angus cattle and competed in showmanship at numerous shows on the local, state, regional, and national levels.  She has entered the NJAA prepared and extemporaneous public speaking and quiz bowl contests at the National Junior Angus Show as well as participated in the mentoring program and cow-calf game.  A member since 1990, Bailey has consigned cattle to the Maplecrest Production Sale.

The Bronze and Silver Awards are the first two levels of the NJAA Recognition Program that began in 1972.  Junior Angus breeders must apply for the awards and then meet point requirements in many areas of participation before receiving the honors.  Applicants are evaluated in the areas of junior Angus association activities and leadership, participation in showmanship, contests and shows, using performance testing to improve their herd and their progress in producing and merchandising Angus cattle.

The NJAA promotes the involvement of young people in raising Angus cattle, while also providing leadership and self-development opportunities for nearly 11,000 members nationwide.
