Maine Angus Association Holds Annual Meeting

The Maine Junior Angus Association (MJAA) hosted a Certified Angus Beef ® Prime Rib dinner for the Maine Angus Association’s annual meeting April 5, 2008, Manchester, Maine.  The dinner was dedicated to the memory of Wixon Street, Chelsea, Maine, lifelong member of the Maine Angus Association, who died February 26, 2008.  The juniors posthumously honored Street’s support of the MJAA by presenting his wife, Mary Street with a framed Angus picture.

The dinner helped raise funds that enable the MJAA to participate in youth-based education and leadership activities, including this year’s National Junior Angus Association events.  In addition to hosting the dinner, the juniors held a silent auction and door-prize drawing that featured Angus-themed and local homemade items.  Also, a scholarship, in the amount of $200 was awarded to MJAA member, Mitchell White, Shapleigh, Maine.

The MJAA would like to thank those who contributed to the event’s success, including,  The Manchester Lion’s Club, Manchester, Maine; Stop N Shop, Kennebunk, Maine, Bradstreet Farms, Newport, Maine, Cabot Dairy Products; and Certified Angus Beef LLC, Wooster, Ohio.  The juniors would also like to express their appreciation to the event’s attendees and those who donated silent auction and door-prize items.

The MJAA group consists of youth from across Maine.  The juniors will participate in two upcoming livestock events:  the annual Youth Beef Expo, Fryeburg, Maine, and the Northeast Livestock Expo, Windsor, Maine, where they will continue fundraising efforts and perform education and outreach for the Angus breed.  For more information on the MJAA, please contact Rachel Stevenson at: 207-395-2700 or email: guernsey78@roadrunner.com.
