Juniors Lead Angus Champions at 2008 MAJAC

Junior Angus exhibitors led 229 entries at the 2008 Mid-Atlantic Junior Angus Classic (MAJAC) Show, March 8-9 in Harrisonburg, Va. Doug Hixon, Laramie, Wyo., evaluated the 103 owned females, 54 bred-and-owned females, 45 owned steers, seven bred-and-owned steers, 16 bred-and-owned bulls and four cow-calf pairs. He also judged 98 Angus-based steers.

Garrett Johnston, Staunton, Va., led the grand champion bred-and-owned bull. GJCC Hot Rodn Thumper 0037 is a February 2007 son of Gambles Hot Rod. He earlier won junior champion.

Shane Clary, Brodnax, Va., showed the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull. SC Independence Man is a January 2007 son of TC Freedom 104. He first won reserve junior champion.

Bryce Fitzgerald, West Grove, Pa., led the grand champion bred-and-owned female. Cherry Knoll Cheyenne 7031 is an April 2007 daughter of Champion Hill Edition 2029. She first topped the junior division.

Brittany Full, Mount Airy, Md., showed the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female. F D E BF Babs 70 is a February 2007 daughter of G 13 Structure. She first won reserve junior champion.

Lacey Murray, Garrett, Pa., captured grand champion owned female with Sherwood Rosebud 757T. The March 2007 daughter of Champion Hill Fullback 380 first won late junior champion.

Mandy Richardson, Louisa, Va., showed the reserve grand champion owned female. Champion Hill Georgina 6208 is a May 2007 daughter of Leachman Saugahatchee 3000C. She earlier won intermediate champion.

Courtney Carnahan, Lecanto, Fla., led the grand champion cow-calf pair. SCC Sweet Blackbird 604 is a January 2006 daughter of P V F New Horizon 001. A December 2007 daughter of Leachman Saugahatchee is at side.

Trevor Whiteside, Queenstown, Md., claimed reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. C F Polly 406 is a January 2004 daughter of G A R Grid Maker. An October 2007 bull calf sired by C F Right Design 1802 is at side.

Bobby Strecker, Rockbridge Baths, Va., led the grand champion bred-and-owned steer. Cedar Springs Top Gun 19T is a March 2007 son of Plainview Lutton E102. He earlier won junior champion.

Elizabeth Johns, Sparks, Md., showed the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned steer. Woodlands Chadwicke is an April 2007 son of H S A F Bando 1961. He first won reserve junior champion.

In the owned steer show, Cade Stertzbach, Louisville, Ohio showed the grand champion entry. Highland Farms Duramax is a March 2007 son of WAR Cowboy Up 3102. He first won junior champion.

James Full, Mount Airy, Md., led the reserve grand champion owned steer. CF DJCC Jim 0107 is a March 2007 son of B C Lookout 7024. He earlier won reserve junior champion.
