AngusSource/Gateway Tag Options
|
|
Cattle enrolled in the AngusSource and Gateway programs are identified with tamper-evident
program tags. Producers may choose from a visual tag, RFID tag or Choice set (includes both RFID and visual tag). Visual tags are printed with a unique
animal number, Lot ID (state of origin, lot number and customer
code) and an in-herd management number (optional). RFID tags are printed with a unique animal number and Lot ID. One tag is issued for each
calf enrolled (producers using choice sets will receive an RFID and visual tag for each calf). Replacement tags are available to qualifying producers - fees apply.

Producers have six options for tags:

AngusSource visual program tags are available for $1 each. Radio frequency (RF) ID tags are available for $2.25 each.
Producers wishing to use visual and RFID tags may purchase the "Choice sets" consisting of an
RFID and visual ID with the same 15 digit unique animal number. These tags cost
$3.25/set.
Gateway visual program tags are $2 each, RFID tags are $3/each and Choice sets are $5/set.
Traditional visual program tags are printed with a 15 digit USA number.
Traditional RFID tags and Choice sets are printed with a 15 digit 985 number.
“840” tag options are also available. The “840” tag is an official ear tag
that can be used for all regulatory programs such as interstate commerce, disease
control programs, etc. The U.S. shield is printed on the front of the tag and the tag back.
“Unlawful to remove” is printed on the back and an “840” number will replace
the traditional “985” and “USA” numbering schemes on the original program tags.
If you would like to utilize “840” tags you must have registered your premise.
Tag numbers allocated to you will be uploaded to the National Animal Identification System
(NAIS) database. “840” tags are available at the same cost as traditional program tags.

If less than 10 head are enrolled a $10 processing fee will be applied to visual
and RFID tag orders and a $15 processing fee will be applied to choice set tag
orders (includes visual and RFID). |

Only the visual program tag is required. Both options offer laser-ink printing,
tag shipping, and the ability to participate in marketing opportunities
(special sales, AngusSource/Gateway cattle listing, etc.).
