AngusSource® Genetic Tag Options

Cattle enrolled in the AngusSource Genetic program are identified with tamper-evident program tags. Producers may choose from a visual tag, RFID tag or ChoiceSet (includes both RFID and visual tag). Visual tags are printed with a unique animal number, Lot ID (state of origin, lot number and customer code) and an in-herd management number. RFID tags are printed with a unique animal number and Lot ID. One tag is issued for each calf enrolled (producers using ChoiceSets will receive a visual and RFID tag for each calf). Replacement tags are available for an additional fee upon request.
Producers have six options for tags:
AngusSource Genetic visual program tags are available for $1 each. Radio frequency (RF) ID tags are available for $2.25 each. Producers who wish to use a visual and RFID tag may purchase "Choice sets" (visual and RFID tag for one calf) for $3.25 per set.

Visual program tags are printed with a 15 digit USA number while RFID tags and ChoiceSets are printed with a 15 digit 985 number.
840 tag options are available in visual, RFID and ChoiceSets. The 840 tag is an official ear tag and can be used to meet the tag requirement for interstate cattle movement as outlined in the Disease Traceability Rule that went into effect March 11, 2013. The USDA Shield is printed on the front and back of the tag. Unlawful to remove is printed on back of the stud. 840 tags must be shipped to the state your premise number is registered.

If you plan to purchase 840 tags you must have a registered premise number. If you do not have a premise number contact your state veterinarian office.

If less than 10 head are enrolled a $10 processing fee will be applied to visual and RFID tag orders and a $15 processing fee will be applied to choice set tag orders (includes visual and RFID).
AngusSource Genetic program tags offer laser-ink printing and are manufactured by Destron Fearing. Destron Fearing has a standard 3 business day turnaround time for tag orders. Shipping to your location usually takes 7 business days maximum. Tags can be shipped overnight for an additional fee.

To utilize the online cattle listing, or participate in other marketing opportunities that feature AngusSource Genetic cattle, an AngusSource Genetic program tag is required.
