AIMS Workshops
We ocassionally get questions about when our next AIMS workshop is being held. Shown below is the schedule as we know it at this point. Keep reading after the schedule for information on how to get a workshop in your area. Unless otherwise noted, no fees are charged and no reservations are necessary.
| Date/Time | Location | Event and Details |
| Jan., 2009 | Denver, Colorado | Scott will be available in the Angus booth 'on the hill', generally while Angus shows are going on in the Stadium Arena.
| Nov. 16-17, 2008 TBA | Louisville, Kentucky |
Generally, we hold two AIMS-related workshops. More details will be posted when they become available. |
What's in the workshop?
As shown in the schedule above, most workshops at Angus events are two hours. In this case, the workshop will consist of a basic introduction to AIMS. A computer screen is projected on a screen showing live interaction with AIMS. Questions are always welcome during the workshop; if they're beyond the scope of the workshop, we can get into details after the workshop.
What about all-day workshops? Another option from the 2-hour, basic AIMS demo is 1 or even 2-day workshops that really get in-depth. These full-day workshops are scheduled around the country on an as-requested basis. These workshops are generally still a demonstration type workshop, but they can also be in a computer lab (perhaps at a high school or college). Workshops are usually suggested by local AIMS users and/or perhaps a Regional Manager in an area where interest has been shown. Generally, the American Angus Association will pay travel expenses for the AIMS Director as long as local expenses (room rental, participant meals, etc.) are handled locally. For example, a state Angus association could help organize an AIMS workshop at a local hotel that has a meeting room. The state association would pay for the room rental and refreshments; participants could pay a small fee to help defray these expenses as well as their own lunch.
To get one of these workshops started, call or email Scott Johnson to get an idea of the feasibility, and most importantly, schedule availability, of getting a workshop started. There are no specific guidelines of how many participants are "required", but at least 20 is a good approximate minimum.
What about Crystal Report Writer training? Workshops have also been combined into two-day (or one really long one) workshops where the second part is specific training on Crystal Report Writer. These workshops get pretty "deep" and take some dedication, but they can be very helpful too.
