The following information will describe how to download and use the files necessary to update your NSE database. This is only the file for updating the National Sire Evaluation (NSE) files for the program found under Tools, National Sire Evaluation in AIMS 2.4. It will not update your herd animals. That must be done by submitting a request file, found under File, Data (Import/Export) and then the EPD Request operation.

SPECIAL NOTE: Due to the addition of weekly calculations of EPDs by the American Angus Association, this data is as of 1/1/2011. We plan to have a way to update this information more frequently, but for now, we must continue at the twice-yearly method.

After you have read these instructions, click on the link below to start the download process.

2. Your web browser will recognize the file as an executable file (the extension is .exe) and will ask if you wish to Run it from its current location, or save it to your computer. You should Save it to your computer.
3. The file can be saved anywhere on your computer, so accepting whatever default you give it is fine.
4. When the file is finished downloading, you will be asked if you wish to Close the download window or Open the file. Choose Open. (You can run/open the file later if necessary).
5. When you open the file, a wizard will lead you through a short installation process. When it asks if you want to overwrite the existing nse20.db, answer yes. You will know you are using the new data when the date in the upper right corner of the results page is 1/1/2011.
6. Once the file is properly updated, you can delete nse_update.exe.
