ANGUS ENTHUSIASTS

“TEE UP” TO SUPPORT

ANGUS FOUNDATION

Most people don’t usually pack golf clubs for their annual trek to the National Junior Angus Show.  This year was the exception, as many packed the clubs to play in the Third Annual Angus Foundation Golf Tournament.  Numerous teams chose to “Tee off to the Future” at the annual event, July 15 at the Quail Chase Golf Club at Louisville, Ky.

Angus enthusiasts from across the country helped make this year’s tournament a success.  Nearly 50 Angus breeders, associations and other industry friends provided sponsorship to the event, which included a continental breakfast, 18 holes of golf and a Certified Angus Beef® steak lunch.

Teams competed for top prizes and individuals competed for flag prizes such as closest to the pin, closest to the rope and longest putt.

Belle Point Angus Ranch, Lavaca, Ark., was the awards sponsor, and provided golf bags to the winning team.  The winning team members included Tim Fitzgerald, Alderson, W.Va.; Mike Wieben, Leesburg, Va.; Jared Jarck, Fairmount, Ind.; and Jeff Hein, Tipton, Ind.

Second place team members each received a putter.  Members on the second place team included Jay Watson, Lincoln, Ala.; Richard Dyar, Crossville, Ala.; and Andy Rest, Billings, Mont.

“This year’s tournament was a huge success due to the sponsors who have contributed to the Angus Foundation and the future of our breed,” says Brandon Walker, National Junior Angus Association retiring Foundation director from Lexington, Ga.  “It is great to see some new golfers participate, and we have many that have made it out each year.”
