Angus Champions Paraded at 2017 Western National Angus Futurity
One hundred and fifty-six entries were shown at the 2017 Western National Angus Futurity (WNAF) Super Point Roll of Victory (ROV) Angus Show, April 2 in Reno, Nev. Dean Janssen, Peoria, Ill., evaluated the 114 females, 37 bulls and five cow-calf pairs before selecting champions at the 65th WNAF.
Sydney Schnoor, Chowchilla, Calif., exhibited the grand champion female, EXAR Winnie 5794. The June 2015 daughter of EXAR Blue Chip 1877B earlier won intermediate champion.
Seldom Rest Lucy 6013 captured reserve grand champion female for Kathryn Coleman, Modesto, Calif. The February 2016 daughter of Silveiras S Sis GQ 2353 first won early junior calf champion.
DAJS Special Effects 044 claimed the grand champion bull title. Payton Herzog, Robinson, Texas, owns the May 2015 son of DAJS After Effect 714 that first topped the intermediate division.
Cade Sterzbach, Louisville, Ohio, owns the reserve grand champion bull that first won reserve intermediate champion. SCC Tradition of 24 is the May 2015 son of Wright SCC Bootlegger 0522.
DAJS Lady Empress 537 won grand champion cow-calf pair. Andrew Hodges, Montague, Texas, showed the April 2013 daughter of DAJS Shockwave 612. Her July 2016 bull calf sired by Leachman Explorer completes the winning pair.
EXAR Queen 2247 won grand champion cow-calf pair. Gillespie Angus Ranch, Emmett, Idaho, showed the January 2012 daughter of EXAR Wanted 9732B. Her September 2016 heifer calf sired by EXAR Blue Chip 1877B completes the winning pair.
