Juniors Exhibit Champions at 2017 Western Regional Junior Angus Show
Junior Angus members traveled to Reno, Nev., to compete in the 2017 Western Regional Junior Angus Show, April 1. Jon Davis, Gallipolis, Ohio, evaluated the 67 owned females, 25 bred-and-owned females, 12 bred-and-owned bulls, eight steers and two cow-calf pairs before selecting champions.
Sydney Schnoor, Chowchilla, Calif., led the grand champion owned female, EXAR Winnie 5794. The June 2015 daughter of EXAR Blue Chip 1877B first won intermediate champion.
Silveiras Saras Dream 5339 won reserve grand champion owned female for Carly Wheeler, Paso Robles, Calif. She’s an April 2015 daughter of EXAR Classen 1422B and first won junior champion.
Sydney Schnoor showed the grand champion bred-and-owned female that also claimed intermediate champion. Seldom Rest Sandy 5086 is a May 2015 daughter of EXAR Classen 1422B.
Seldom Rest Lucy 6013 captured reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female. Kathryn Coleman, Modesto, Calif., showed the February 2016 daughter of Silveiras S Sis GQ 2353 that first won early junior champion.
SCC Tradition of 24 received grand champion bred-and-owned bull for Cade Stertzbach, Louisville, Ohio. He is a May 2015 son of Wright SCC Bootlegger 0522.
Coulson Chambers, Tenino, Wash., showed the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull. C4 Classic Man 0187 is a January 2016 son of EXAR Classen 1422B.
DAJS Full Force 124 received grand champion steer honors for Andrew Hodges, Montague, Texas. He’s a January 2016 son of DAJS All In 828.
Brody Leo, Snelling, Calif., showed the reserve grand champion steer. GEP Paradox 624D is a February 2016 son of Plum Creek Paradox 161B.
Andrew Hodges showed the grand champion cow-calf pair. DAJS Lady Empress 537 is an April 2013 daughter of DAJS Shockwave 612. A July 2016 bull calf sired by Leachman Explorer is at side.
Mariam Horton, Christmas Valley, Ore., led the reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. K Bar D Wendy 21B is a February 2014 daughter of K Bar D Joe Canada 18Y. A December 2016 heifer calf sired by S A V Angus Valley 1867 is at side.
