Champions Selected at 2017 Kansas Junior Angus Show
Kansas junior Angus members led 105 entries at the 2017 Kansas Junior Angus Association Preview Show, June 3-4 in Hutchinson, Kan. Bill Conley, Clarksdale, Mo., evaluated two bred-and-owned bulls, 58 owned females, 26 bred-and-owned females, four cow-calf pairs, and 15 registered Angus steers before choosing winners.
Hinrichsen Black Jack 6016 was named grand champion bred-and-owned bull. Cale Hinrichsen, Westmoreland, Kan., owns the March 2016 son of Penners-CC Double Black 2257.
Tanner Hite, Valley Center, Kan., led the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull. HDCC Classen D37 is an October 2016 son of EXAR Classen 1422B.
FCF Missie 612 won grand champion owned female. Caleb Flory, Baldwin City, Kan., owns the February 2016 daughter of PVF Windfall SCC 9005. She first won junior champion.
Laflins Galaxie 6606 won reserve grand champion owned female. Anna Carpenter, Wamego, Kan., owns the January 2016 daughter of Bushs Unbelievable423. She first won reserve junior champion.
Kelsey Theis, Leavenworth, Kan., led the grand champion bred-and-owned female. AVF Blackcap 4616 is an October 2016 daughter of Penners-CC Double Black 2257. She first won senior calf champion.
BRR Jackson Ms Sooner 1501 was named reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female. Jackson McCurry, Colwich, Kan., owns the September 2015 daughter of S A V Thunderbird 9061. She first won senior champion.
Jayce Dickerson, Paradise, Kan., showed the Bob Laflin Memorial supreme champion.and the grand champion cow-calf pair. Bar S Pride 3695 is an April 2013 daughter of B C Lookout 7024. An April 2017 heifer calf sired by Bar S Charlo 5092 completes the winning pair.
Austin Woodrow, Emporia, Kan., exhibited the reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. HGR Miss Georgia 423 is an April 2015 daughter of MSF Journey. Her calf is an April 2017 son sired by Greene Pokerface 1304.
Buchanan’s Ernie claimed grand champion Angus steer. Clay Pelton, Paradise, Kan., owns the March 2016 son of PVF Surveillance 4129.
JE Trigger 16D was named grand reserve champion Angus steer. Baylee Wulfkuhle, Berryton, Kan., owns the March 2016 son of Carlsons Leroy.
