Winners Selected at Illinois Junior Field Day
Illinois junior Angus members led 159 entries at the 2017 Illinois Junior Angus Association Field Day, June 3 in Bloomington, Ill. Ryan Rash, Crockett, Texas, evaluated 92 owned females, 38 bred-and-owned females, nine steers, seven cow-calf pairs, and 13 bred-and-owned bulls before choosing champions.
Dameron C-5 Cheyenne 1628 claimed grand champion owned female honors. Kalie Rumbold, Wyanet, Ill., owns the March 2016 daughter of Silveiras Style 9303. She first won late junior champion.
Lauryn Mool, Lexington, Ill., led the reserve grand champion owned female. TopLine FCF Proven Queen 161 is a February 2016 daughter of Dameron First Class. She first won early junior champion.
Dameron CB First Responder won supreme champion overall and grand champion bred-and-owned bull. Jack Dameron, Towanda, Ill., owns the March 2016 son of B F First Transaction. He first won junior champion.
Eric Shafer, Owaneco, Ill., led the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull after first winning senior calf champion. Schafers Kingsly 6940 is a September 2016 son of Silveiras Style 9303.
Dameron Lady Jaye 6153 was named grand champion bred-and-owned female after winning intermediate champion. Anne Dameron, Towanda, Ill., owns the May 2016 daughter of PVF Insight 0129.
CF-BCII Lesley 643 won reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female. Craig Brecken, Indianola, Ill., owns the April 2016 daughter of PVF Insight 0129. She first won junior champion.
Brady Schnelten, Rockbridge, Ill., led the grand champion cow-calf pair. Top Line Lady 5103 is an April 2015 daughter of PVF Insight 0129. Her calf is a February 2017 bull sired by Hurlbut OSU Final Exam 5130.
Dameron Northern Miss 505 won reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. Paige Lemenager, Hudson, Ill., owns the January 2015 daughter of Silveiras Style 9303. A January 2017 heifer calf sired by Dameron First Impression is at side.
Ella Eathington, Avon, Ill., led the grand champion steer. RF Peppers 1639 is a March 2016 son of Dameron Second Chance.
64 Rizzo 1656 was named reserve grand champion steer. Katrina Lowry, Oregon, Ill., owns the March 2016 son of FCF Payday 105.
