Angus Champions Named at 2017 Florida State Fair

            Angus exhibitors led 134 entries at the 2017 Florida State Fair Angus Show, February 9 in Tampa, Fla. Chris Cassady, Ankeny, Iowa, evaluated the 93 females, 34 bulls and seven cow-calf pairs before selecting champions.

            Alvarez Insight C013 claimed grand champion bull honors. Austin Alvarez, Dade City, Fla., owns the February 2016 son of PVF Insight 0129. He first won junior calf champion.

            AA Blue Chip 2805 won reserve grand champion bull. Owen Austrino, Dade City, Fla., owns the June 2016 son of EXAR Blue Chip 1877B. He first won reserve junior calf champion.

            Austin Alvarez showed the grand champion female. PVF Frontier Gal 6073 is a February 2016 daughter of Dameron First Impression. She earlier won early junior calf champion.

            Samuel Torrence, Newberry, Fla., owns the reserve grand champion female, Dameron SA Lady 76. She’s a January 2016 daughter of Dameron First Class. She first won reserve early junior calf champion.

            Champion Hill Peg 7545 won grand champion cow-calf pair. Owen Austrino owns the January 2010 daughter of S A V Bismarck 5682. A December 2016 heifer calf sired by Silveiras Style 1530 completes the winning pair.

            Julianna D’Alto, Gainesville, Fla., owns the reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. Champion Hill Emblynette8470 is a July 2013 daughter of S A V Resource 1441. A July 2016 bull calf sired by PVF Insight 0129 is at side.
