Angus Champions Named at the National Western Junior Show
Junior Angus members led 214 entries at the 2016 National Western Stock Show’s Junior Angus Show, Thursday, Jan. 14 in Denver, Colo. Brad Winegardner, Lima, Ohio, evaluated the 213 females and one cow-calf pair before selecting champions.
Leslie Rogers, Patoka, Ind., led the grand champion female. FCF Proven Queen 419 is a February 2014 daughter of SCC First-N-Goal GAF 114 and first won junior champion.
PVF Missie 4149 was named reserve grand champion female. Esther McCabe, Elk City, Kan., owns the June 2014 daughter of C&C Priority 1428B EXAR. She first claimed intermediate champion honors.
Andrew Hodges, Montague, Texas, led the grand champion cow-calf pair. DAJS Lady Empress 537 is an April 2013 daughter of DAJS Shockwave 612. A July 2015 heifer calf sired by DAJS After Burn 714 completes the winning duo.
