Winners Chosen at 2016 Iowa Angus Summer Show
Iowa Angus enthusiasts led 124 entries at the 2016 Iowa Angus Summer Show, June 19 in Eldora, Iowa. Scott Bayer, Ringle, Wis., evaluated eight bulls, 104 females, five cow-calf pairs, and seven Angus steers before selecting champions.
TGM Compton 1738 won grand champion bull. Tim Mardesen, Oxford, Iowa, owns the October 2015 son of Silveiras Style 9303. He first won senior calf champion.
Jacob Schermer, Clarion, Iowa, exhibited the reserve grand champion bull after winning reserve senior calf champion. SAC The Duke is a December 2015 son of Silveiras Conversion 8064.
Bergman Lady 1510 was named grand champion female. Brady Klendworth, Walker, Iowa, owns the April 2015 daughter of SCC First-N-Goal GAF 114. She first won junior champion – division 1.
Hara’s Burns Dixie Erica 1C claimed reserve grand champion female honors after first winning reserve junior champion – division 1. Lexie Moore, South English, Iowa, owns the March 2015 daughter of Silveiras Style 9303.
Katelyn Holmes, Benton, Iowa, led the grand champion cow-calf pair. HCC Forever Lady 8534 is a February 2014 daughter of PVF Windfall SCC 9005. Her calf is a January 2016 heifer sired by PVF Insight 0129.
Buck Creeks J & K, Coin, Iowa; and Hannah Mitchell and Walker McDermott, both of Prescott, Iowa, own the reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. Champion Hill Emblynette8173 is a March 2012 daughter of S A V First Class 0207. She has a February 2016 bull calf sired by EXAR Blue Chip 1877B at side.
JAF Mr James 540 was named grand champion steer. Olivia Johnson, Prole, Iowa, owns the February 2015 son of HFS First Class 113.
Nathan Moen, Atlantic, Iowa, owns the reserve champion steer. BRF Lloyd C12 is an April 2015 son of PVF Insight 0129.
