ONLINE: Angus Ambassador application.

Don’t Miss this Application Opportunity

Applications for the Angus Ambassador are due by September 1.

Do you have a passion for the Angus breed and advocating for it across diverse industry platforms? Then don’t miss the opportunity to apply for the Angus Ambassador position! Representing the American Angus Association® is an opportunity for a highly qualified individual within the breed to serve as a spokesperson for the National Junior Angus Association’s (NJAA) members and connect with producers, consumers and professionals within the industry and beyond.

“The Angus Ambassador is an elite position, where one junior member is selected to represent the NJAA,” said Jaclyn Upperman, American Angus Association director of events and education. “They travel across the country, participating in a variety of events and building their personal networks throughout the year. This is an opportunity no junior should pass up.”

Sydni Lienemann from Princeton, Nebraska, is currently representing the 5,000 NJAA members and more than 20,000 American Angus Association members. She is attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she’s majoring in animal science and agricultural economics. She spent this past year representing the breed well and is excited for whomever is lucky enough to succeed her.

“Being chosen as the Angus Ambassador was a humbling experience and it is a year I will never forget,” said Lienemann. “I loved traveling, especially out of the country, on behalf of the Angus breed. Learning more from the other breeders and industry members was an amazing opportunity.”

Those who wish to apply can find the application available online, and submit their application by Sept. 1, 2018. To be an eligible candidate for the Angus Ambassador competition, applicants must be Association members in good standing, between the ages 17-20 as of Jan. 1, 2018, who own purebred Angus cattle. They must submit a cover letter, résumé and two essay responses.

Only applications postmarked on or before Sept. 1 will be accepted. Send applications to the Association’s Events and Education Department, 3201 Frederick Ave., Saint Joseph, MO 64506.

Once the applications are reviewed, five finalists are invited to the Angus Convention to participate in the final competition round, which includes an interview and formal presentation with a judging panel. The new Angus Ambassador is announced at the Awards Recognition Breakfast on Nov. 5.

The newly elected Angus Ambassador will travel to the following events:

·  Angus Convention – November 3-5, 2018 – Columbus, OH (candidates)

·  The Certified Angus Beef® brand Building Blocks Seminar – January 2019 – Wooster, OH

·  NCBA Cattle Industry Annual Convention – January 30-February 1, 2019 – New Orleans, LA

·  GOAL Conference – February 2019 – Canada
