Angus Foundation Silent Auction Raises $10,025

Nineteenth annual event boosts funds for education, youth and research.

Angus enthusiasts had an opportunity to bid on 120 items July 8-12 at the Angus Foundation Silent Auction in Indianapolis, Ind., held during the National Junior Angus Show (NJAS). Proceeds from these items help fund education, youth and research initiatives supported by the Angus Foundation.

“Seeing the smiling faces reminds you each year why this is such a fun and enjoyable activity the Angus Foundation can offer and the NJAS,” says Milford Jenkins, Angus Foundation president. “It is always exciting to see the new and unique items people donate. This year’s support did not go unnoticed and we would like to give credit and thank everyone who contributed.”

Ott Farms Angus, Columbia City, Ind., purchased the top-selling item for $500, which was a large, framed mirror with hooks and a Paul Harvey quote etched on the glass. The mirror was donated by the Illinois Junior Angus Association.

The second high-selling item was the No. 50 of 50 pictures of “The Guardian” donated by Legacy Livestock Imaging of Topeka, Kan.

From its inception in 1995, the silent auction has grown annually as a fundraiser that generates unrestricted financial support for various activities sponsored by the Angus Foundation, such as Angus youth scholarships, Raising the Bar Conferences, Beef Leaders Institute and beef cattle related research projects.
