Angus Foundation Silent Auction Raises More Than $13,500

The annual fundraiser enhances Angus education, youth and research.

The Angus Foundation raised more than $13,500 on 162 items during the annual silent auction during the 2018 National Junior Angus Show (NJAS) on July 7-13 in Madison, Wisconsin. Proceeds from these items help fund support for Angus education, youth and research initiatives.

“The silent auction always brings out the best in Angus enthusiasts,” said Milford Jenkins, Angus Foundation president. “All of the donated items auctioned off during the event are very special in some way or another. Proceeds from the silent auction are unrestricted in their use, so the Angus Foundation can put those funds toward the education, youth and research efforts that need the most support.”

Dry Creek Farm, Berryville, Virginia, purchased the top-selling item for $910, which was a Certified Angus Beef ® (CAB®) brand Yeti cooler and CAB gift basket donated by the 2018 National Junior Angus Board (NJAB) of directors.

The second-highest selling honor, at $370, went to an Angus bull rug donated by the Angus Foundation, purchased by Donna Linnebur, Byers, Colorado.

The third-highest selling title, at $325, was donated by the Missouri Junior Angus Association. Brooks & Sons Farms, Smithville, Missouri, purchased a children and work boots sign.

For 23 years, the Angus Foundation silent auction has grown as an annual fundraiser and generated unrestricted financial support for various activities sponsored by the Angus Foundation, including Angus youth scholarships, Raising the Bar Conferences, the Beef Leaders Institute (BLI) and a number of beef cattle related research projects.
