Angus Hires Director of Communications

Clint Mefford promoted to lead organizational communications and strategy for the American Angus Association and its entities.

The American Angus Association announces Clint Mefford, a native of Central Point, Ore., as the organization’s director of communications. Mefford began his new role July 5, after previously serving as an executive marketing associate at the Association headquarters in Saint Joseph, Mo.

As the director of communications, Mefford is responsible for establishing strategy for all communication elements, both external and internal, for the Association and its entities, Angus Productions Inc. (API), Angus Genetics Inc. (AGI) and the Angus Foundation.

“During his time on the Angus team, Clint has demonstrated the ability to work cohesively within teams across the organization, an outstanding work ethic, and the ability to communicate and connect with a variety of audiences,” says Allen Moczygemba, Association CEO. “He is a talented young professional with great enthusiasm for our breed and membership.”

Mefford played an integral role in the National Western Angus Bull Sale in January 2017, which resulted in a record crowd in the historic Stadium Arena in Denver, Colo., and he has been the organization’s lead contact for the upcoming Angus Convention in Fort Worth, Texas.

Within his new position, Mefford will ensure content developed by the communications team aligns with the organization’s messaging and brand presence, including news releases, web content and advertising; as well as Angus Media’s print, television, digital and radio platforms. He leads a growing team of communications professionals who are dedicated to reaching the nation’s Angus producers on multimedia programs and platforms.

“I’m truly excited for this opportunity to serve the Angus breed and its members through our organization’s vast communications efforts,” Mefford says. “The world of media is constantly changing, and we will remain committed to reaching our audiences through trusted and engaging media programs and outlets.”

Mefford will also oversee the Angus breed’s national advertising campaign, lead efforts in developing educational resources, and serve as the media liaison and establish relationships to promote the Angus breed and Association programs and services.

Prior to joining the Angus team, Mefford was the livestock judging coach at Connors State College, Warner, Okla., where he also served as an animal science instructor and academic advisor. He graduated in May 2011 from Oklahoma State University (OSU) with a bachelor’s degree in animal science, with a livestock merchandising option. He later earned a master’s in agricultural communications from OSU.

“The Angus breed continues to be on the leading-edge of the beef cattle industry, and I’m looking forward to sustaining our leadership position through innovative communications and marketing initiatives,” Mefford says.
