Lynae Bowman Earns Silver Award

Lynae Bowman, Germanton, N.C., has earned the National Junior Angus Association’s (NJAA) Silver award, according to Jaclyn Upperman, education and events director of the American Angus Association® in Saint Joseph, Mo.

Bowman is the 16-year-old daughter of Neil and April Bowman. She attends South Stokes High School and is a member of the NJAA and the North Carolina Junior Angus Association, where she has served as secretary and reporter.

She has participated in local, state, regional and national shows and showmanship contest. At the National Junior Angus Show (NJAS), Bowman participated in the photography, graphic design, quiz bowl, livestock judging, digitally enhanced photography, skillathon and team marketing contests and the All-American Certified Angus Beef® Cook-Off. She was also an participant in the 2017 and 2018 Leaders Engaged in Angus Development (LEAD) conferences and the 2018 Raising the Bar conference.

The Silver award is the second level of the NJAA Recognition Program that began in 1972. Junior Angus breeders must apply for the award, than meet point requirements in many areas of participation before receiving the honor. Applicants are evaluated in areas of junior Angus association activities and leadership, participation in showmanship, contests and shows, using performance testing to improve their herd and their progress in producing and merchandising Angus cattle.

The NJAA promotes the involvement of young people in raising Angus cattle, while also providing leadership and self-development opportunities for the nearly 6,000 active members nationwide.
